Saddle Horse Holiday has been an annual tradition since 1946. Join us on horseback as we celebrate Lake Benton being the "Gateway to the West." Each year the "mane" attraction is a mile-long parade of 800 riders. A show competition is also held, featuring pleasure, hunt, hitch bridle path, and equitation classes, and you can ride your horse through more than 200 wooded acres!
There is a small entry fee for participants. Spectators are charged $1.50. Horse campgrounds can be found in the area.
Our annual local celebration of Independence Day is full of boat parades, fireworks displays, and activities for young and old all day long. Join us this year for a 4th of July event you won't forget!
Every 2nd Weekend in August, we celebrate "Benton Fremont Days." This is an arts, crafts, food, and music festival which brings crafters from a three-state area, with entertainment provided by the Silver Creek Mavericks. Watch as the Silver Creek Mavericks perform old west gun shoots, rob a Lake Benton Downtown Historic Bank building and share their knowledge of historic old west legends.
Enjoy delicious buffalo stew on Sunday, and a corn boil on Saturday. Fun for all ages!
Communities up and down the International Historic Highway 75 King of Trails Byway are getting ready to celebrate life along the route, showcasing baked goods, fresh produce and flowers, antiques and collectibles, during the King of Trails Market Day, held annually the second weekend of September.
